Apple mac question
Well, I now have a fab fast apple mac 27" screen and I love it - Took a while to get used to the mouse but have sorted that now.
A question for any mac users - I have the Iworks but am finding it difficult to use as I am so used to Microsoft Office. I know there is a Microsoft Office out that is compatible with Mac. Has anyone used it and is it worth buying or should I persevere with Iworks and hope I crack it. I do use a lot of word and excel documents so wonder if that is my easy option.

Even MS Office is still slightly different to Office on the PC. Try NeoOffice and see how you get on with that. I actually prefer it to Microsoft Office. It is more like Office 2003.
It is free... neooffice/neojava/en/index.php |

Thanks - it looks good and is worth a try. But I am totally confused which version to download. There is one for powermacs which is what I think I have but then there is one via bit torrent? also when you go to the download page there are loads of versions - any advice? Sorry to be such a thickie!

It is great - I have done quite a few documents and spreadsheets and am well impressed.
Thanks so much x

It sounds like NeoOffice is working well for you, but the new Office for Mac 2010 due out this year is pretty much identical to the Windows version. Also consider Google Docs which is excellent for basic documents and spreadsheets and has some great collaboration tools if you work together with others on docs/sheets.

New office 2010 looks good but will see how I go with this one.
I am off to Florida in two weeks and might be tempted to buy out there if it is out!

I wouldn't buy the current Mac Office unless you really need it - it isn't that good and the new version will be out later in the year which switches back to Outlook rather than Entourage (if you use a corporate MS Exchange server). It also adds more of the Office 200? ribbon features etc..
The current version is a nasty hybrid imo - and I still hate the fact that you can't dock the formula bar in Excel! Grrrr.! |
