Cleaning - how often do you do various jobs?
I’m interested in this following a conversation I had today and given the fact that I am currently taking a short career break so have more time than I did previously to do bits around the house so have been tacking things like cleaning skirting boards, woodwork etc that rarely used to get done
So how often do you do these things? Daily tends to include washing, cleaning kitchen, Weekly jobs include bathrooms, hoovering, mop floors beds gets changed 1-2 weeks etc Dusting gets done as infrequently as possible or when we have visitors Cleaning skirting boards, inside cupboards very very infrequently as in I think I’ve done in a few times since we moved in 12 years ago I know I’ll never be a domestic goddess but I don’t want to spend too much of my precious time off cleaning ..so how often is normal?

Living by myself I can let things slide without being moaned at
However over Easter I had a cleaning spree and totally wrecked my back, so I've come to the conclusion that cleaning is dangerous. |

The house gets dusted, vacuumed and floors washed weekly (we have amtico in most of the downstairs rooms). Kitchen surfaces and bathroom sinks and both floors are cleaned daily.
Outside windowsills and doors are wiped weekly. Beds are changed every two weeks. Windows (inside) and Venetian blinds are cleaned every 3 months ish.

Definitely not worth getting injured- tbh nobody here would moan if things didn’t get done but I have had occasions when people have dropped by and I have felt embarrassed by how untidy the house is !

Mostly everything is on a weekly basis - I scoot round everywhere at the weekend.
Theres only the 2 of us so it stays fairly clean! Beds - every week. |

I don’t work, just volunteer one day a week so I have plenty of time to do my housework. I still don’t spend all my time cleaning though 😂 Make beds and wash up daily then I generally dust/polish twice a week, vacuum twice a week, clean bathroom and kitchen once a week, steam clean hard floors once a week, do inside windows once a fortnight. Washing around 5 times a week, ironing weekly. Change sheets fortnightly.
Skirting boards and inside cupboards get done very rarely (annually?) I also use specialist cleaner on my leather sofas and dining chairs around every 8 weeks. Outside windows and cleaning inside fridge are DH’s jobs, so only get done when I nag him 😀. Edited at 03:32 PM. |

Daily. Make beds, sweep kitchen floor, wipe kitchen surfaces and clean the cooker top. Squirt and brush the loos and wipe the seat.
Every time it’s used. Clean the bath. Weekly for us. Change the beds. Wash bedding and towels. Hoover. Clean the sinks. Mop the kitchen and hall floors. Fortnightly. Full clean including polishing by our cleaner. Couple of times a year DH cleans the leather sofa. He uses something special but I don’t want to understand it as I don’t want to help. Kitchen cupboards and draws once a year. Tidy of all wardrobes and bedroom draws and downstairs storage annually. Garage sort out. When we can’t shut the door. About 4 times in 20 years 😂 Inside windows not often enough. Outside windows monthly via window cleaner. Inside ovens. My mum will do it when she’s too disgusted to look at them any more... I do keep on top of most of the cleaning, but I am very untidy, mainly because I make jewellery as a hobby and have beads in boxes everywhere in the dining room.
Skirtings are a bit grubby at the moment, but they are too close to the ground to do easily. I have a plastic container cupboard that is a menace to open, the contents fly out at me! Not done much at all today!
