Ride of the Resistance...

...what sort of ride is it?

Simulator?

Roller coaster?

Or a bit of both a la Gringotts?

It’s a bit of both, a walkthrough experience and then a ride. Screens too

As Moorlandman says, bit of both.
I have just walked off it and it’s the most immersive ride I’ve ever been on, and I’m not even a Star Wars Fan.
Absolutely amazing. You can watch it on YouTube but you won’t get the scale or interaction.

Sue how long did you queue for the actual ride once in? Thanks YT.

About twenty minutes before things really start happening. It was well themed.

Well that’s do able, my son and wife have no patience for queuing so half an hour would be our limit. I’m hoping we get on this, looks amazing.

It’s really hard to know where the ride starts and the line ends. We also were waiting 20 mins.

The ride itself is a trackless dark ride.

To use examples in Orlando, it's a little like a cross between the Spider-Man ride at IOA and the penguin ride at Seaworld but brought up to date with far more animatronics and larger physical sets. There is also a bit of a simulator bit near the end, but it's fairly brief.

In addition, the queue makes clever use of a number of pre-show elements which add to the overall experience. One of those pre-shows is sort of like a ride in itself.

Having been on it and will do so tomorrow I feel I can pass comment with more accuracy and feeling than a YouTube video.

It’s a complete immersive experience unlike anything you have seen.

The cast members play their part and actually interrogate you when you are captured. You are placed in a holding cell also.

There is more than one part simulator, there is a part outdoors also. There are huge sets etc

All in all it’s astonishing and nothing like you have encountered.
