Amazon Fire Stick in Florida?
I saw on another post yesterday that among the list of things they pack to stay in a villa, one poster mentioned their Amazon Fire Stick. I hadn't thought of that - does anyone know if it definitely works over there? Not that we plan on spending a lot of time watching TV, but on the odd occasion that we might want to chill out for a while, it would be good to know if the fire stick would work. We always find that US TV has even worse selection of programmes that UK

Yes it should do, as long as you have decent WiFi. It'll be geo-locked though so you'll get content available in the US

It was me who posted yesterday...
Yes - we always take our firestick for in the villa, it works for Netflix so you can get all the US content and also many other apps i have installed on it works too.. I dont think Amazon Prime video worked though.

Oh, ok - thanks. So the programmes that we watch here won't be available on it necessarily? Was thinking of shows like the Mentalist, but maybe as it is a US show it might be on it. Will pack it anyway and see how we get on. The villa we go to does have cable, but we can never seem to find anything decent to watch!

The Prime content is geo-locked so you can't watch videos. However if you have netflix on your stick that'll work fine with location restrictions once you log into your account.

It might be worthwhile contacting the owner if you can. Due to the high cost of cable, many villa owners have either switched to digital TVs or are using Roku devices - both will allow access to Netflix and Prime apps
