The year out may be a great opportunity for Beth to recharge her batteries and build up some cash from her part time work. I would imagine she will be able to secure her accommodation early for next year too, so far less rushed. Everything does happen for a reason xx

As a side note, Clifton Hill House is just 5 minutes or so away from Georgia’s accommodation this year so if she’d needed some company to settle in, Georgia could have met up with her 😀

I am sorry that Beth was affected by the shambles that was the A level results but happy that she has her place where she wants to be next year. It may be a blessing in disguise.

It sounds like she had a good plan of action for her year ahead!

Lovely to hear everyone’s latest news - Ben is returning at the end of September so only another couple of weeks with him. He still hasn’t got his timetable so we are waiting to see how it will look for him. He is sharing a flat with 2 other boys, one of which lives in Belgium so he is coming this week so he can self isolate before Ben and the other boy arrives. Looks like another interesting year ahead for them all!

She is fairly sensible but its the others she is sharing with one is saying he is planning a party, luckily not everyone is back yet so he has decided to wait. I'm hoping the Uni issue some further guidelines soon. She is due to start rehearsals for a showcase they do for the freshers. It has already been decided that it will be streamed so only the performers are in the theatre but there are 30 of them in the show so not sure how the social distancing will work. I read last night Oxford Uni has told students if they don't follow the rules about social distancing then they will get fined some of the rules were no guests staying overnight and only socialising within your bubble.

My daughter is just about to start 3rd year on the Bognor Regis site, she is participating in Freshers Showcase, The uni have been reported by someone for not keeping to social distancing and cleaning the dance rooms, I found this very worrying, I do hope that it gets better.

Lovely to hear everyone’s news.

DD has enrolled at her new uni for year 2 but hasn’t had any timetable yet. They’re hoping to be published by the end of the month.

She’s really looking forward to getting back into it. She was on school placement prior to lockdown so hasn’t actually been in uni since February.

She knows a lot of learning will be on line but is just hoping that she will have some face to face contact too so she can get to meet other students. Don’t know how placements will be managed this year, I hope she can get into school soon as she loves it and feels that is where she learns the most.

I’m sure you will miss Ben when he goes back after all this time. Georgia hasn’t had her timetable yet but has been told it’s only labs that will be on campus. She’s hoping that they will still be providing plenty of lectures online so it will be interesting to see the timetable when they get those.

I’m so pleased Ben’s housemate can return from Belgium. I read quite a few overseas students have decided to stay at home and study their entire course online this year

I’m hoping that the unis will be able to provide safe environments for the students and that students will keep to social distancing as it’s very worrying to think of the possible outcome if it doesn’t work 😢

Georgia actually enrolled onto her second year today too 😀 What date does your DD start? I do hope she gets some opportunities to meet others, I know most unis are trying to find ways for students to interact online but I’m not sure how this will work in practice.

I think school is definitely the best place to learn as a teacher, I hope your DD gets some good placements this year and she continues to enjoy teaching and also enjoys her new uni 😀

I believe she’s due to start on the 5th October. How much time she’ll actually be there remains to be seen.

I know she’s been speaking to friends at UWE and they appear to have very little face to face learning. They have whole blocks of several weeks where everything will be on-line.

Same date as Georgia then. Yes I think most students are going to find that the huge majority will be online. Georgia seems to think she will be in every week for a lab session but that would be just 3 hours a week so it’s very limited 😔 I do hope it works out well for them all
