Who did this?

Our bogie was a railway sleeper with pram wheels, when we fitted a wolseley back seat it could accommodate 6 pax ... we left many layers of skin on the back streets (Round the back of the Coatham Hotel) ... but we lived...

Anyone else ?

We always had them. Often used washing line for the steering cord.

My late brother was always making go-carts. When he was about 7, he decided he was going away on a 'journey'. He had a few bits tied up in one of my Dad's scarfs. Mum was crying, Dad said leave him alone he wont go far. Some time later a knock on the door and a Policeman brought him home cos he got lost.

Our road had an excellent incline and finished in a turning circle with a good curb for playing curbie and then a grass field.

Used to fly down the hill with the aim of hitting the curb hard enough that it sent you flying out into the field sans bogie. Furthest out won. Went through a lot of old silver dream pram wheels.

Rope burns on my hands from trying to steer with that poxy waxed green garden twine as a steering rope.

Shin pads, elbow pads and crash helmets were an unknown entity.

A good few clatters of people's cars. My friend took a stripe down Mr Nixon's car and none of us dared leave our house for days 😁

I would have been livid I was Mr Nixon now 😊
