hiring car on site for 2 days... new to driving in USA

We are staying at POR in July and am thinking of getting a car just basically to get us to Busch Gardens and Sea World as the BG bus transfer is too limiting in times... whats the best way to go about it? Who would be best to use? Would the car company bring the car to us at POR? Bit nervous about driving over there but the desire to go to BG is greater than the fear of driving on the opposite side of the road..

Any help / recommendations would be great.

What additional costs would there be over and above daily rental price?

There is a rental place on site on the way to Magic Kingdom, who will come and pick you up from your resort to collect the car.

There are also a number of rental companies who have a rental location around the Disney Springs area Hotels, where you could get the bus to Downtown Disney then walk across.

I would suggest using a couple of the websites that compare rental prices, and check out renting both from the on-site rental and Disney Springs Hotel locations.

OP. I would move quite quick as your countdown is running fast now and the longer you leave it traditionally the more expensive it will get.
I would use the Disney Car Care Centre as mentioned above. Ring the night before for the free minibus to collect you and also they drop you where you want to go on Disney property when you return the car.

Now, who to book with. I have to say that for 1 driver Andy at discountfloridacarhire who advertises on here has some really good prices, plus he will supply you with a sat nav as well. Give him a try. Highly recommended.

Follow Mr Toms advise.
Do not worry about the driving, the drive to Busch gardens is almost all done on the I4 so it will give you time to relax in the drivers seat.
Busch gardens is around 90 minutes drive maybe wait for the rush hour traffic to end or maybe choose a week end to do the journey, although my past experience shows Busch Gardens is always busy week ends with local kids
Up to sea world is quite an easy trip from Disney also
