How easy is the drive from Port Canaveral to KSC and then onto Orlando?
Hi all
We're going for a 3 week adventure next year and I'm really tempted to hire a car after our cruise. This would mean we could do KSC without paying for transfers and would save on port transfers. How easy is the drive? I've been to Orlando 3 times before and have never fancied driving. Is it an easy drive from the Alamo pick up at Port Canaveral to KSC then to International Drive? Thanks in advance

well, basically it's a straight line ... you can hardly make it easier than this.
from the rental agency, you'll be on A1A, drive up (north) you'll get to a junction with US1. If you continue straight ahead, it's 528 and it will take you straight to MCO and from there Idrive is a short and easy distance away. Easy as pie if you need to go to KSC. At the junction with US1, make a right (north) and follow on US1 until you get to 405, make a right, KSC visitor center is clearly signposted. to bo back from KSC to Idrive, follow 405 from KSC Visitor center. Then 407 (challenger memorial highway) and you'll soon be on 528 West to MCO and Idrive beyond that. The smaller roads (405/407) are 2 lane roads (2 x 1). 528 is a large highway (the one you fly over when you land at MCO) the drive is easy 528 is a toll road. Get some quarters or a $20 (not larger) or use the toll by plate program of your rental (if provided) |
