There was a toilet at the halfway cafe when we went, just the one through a door at the back of cafe. That was last year, we went in on the way up. On the way back the cafe had just closed at 3pm, so we had no access then.

There wasn't one available when we went in 2013, maybe it was out of order.

I guess so. There was just the one loo off a little lobby area leading off the cafe, so a queue for it.

Can't imagine anything worse than stopping for a cup of tea halfway up a mountain, then discovering there's no loo... Don't expect there are a lot of bushes to go behind either ! 😂

As a long distance walker I've done this many times, my favourite is Crib Goch but only if you are very experienced, not to be taken lightly. Had to abandon last time as weather closed in.

A good 3 - 4 hours each way is about right for an easy pace.

The local car parks take coins and notes but the note machine packed up last time leaving us scrabbling for £10 in pound coins so take lots of change.

We got the train up and walked down. I don't do the most exercise in the world but can walk all day, but walking down absolutely killed by calves. I was in agony for about 3 days
