I didn't suggest you were irresponsible but clearing this up is absolutely paramount to people enjoying their cruises and not being shocked when they can't board with something on the prohibited list.

It doesn't mention liquor as you're only allowed wine/champagne/beer. They define that in the explanation.

Disappointed to hear that you can't take liquor anymore, saved loads buying a bottle of peach snaps and Bacardi from Walmart, this is about making money then and not about safety.

I would guess it's more about being a family cruise line and promoting it as such. If it were just about making money, they'd offer a drinks package but they don't want to encourage behaviour that may impede on others enjoyment. Same reason they don't have casinos onboard (who knows if that will change with the 3 new ships from 2021).

Don't get me wrong, you'll still get very drunk people (me last year .. apologies ), but if people continually break rules, something has to give. We were on a cruise a couple of years ago and by the pool, 2 older guys brought up a hard sided cooler and were pouring drinks from bottles in that cooler - the drinks were not ones you could buy on the ship. The rules clearly state that any drinks bought should be drunk in your stateroom, but people think they can do what they like. Thing is, if you're going to do that, you do it discreetly.

So, I'm sure profit has a place in their decision, I'm sure it would if I owned the company too as that's the whole point of running a company, but I'd bet my future cruises that it's not the sole reason.

Thanks Bats, thinking of buying some miniatures of limoncello in Naples as gifts for people at home. If we do I will make sure to hand it in for safe keeping on the ship.

Sorry to hijack the thread - just read about the extension plug and must admit it didn't even cross my mind that this would be a problem...do we just hand over our extension lead when we board and collect at the end of the cruise? No intention of using it on our cruise of course, but we're in Orlando for another 4 weeks afterwards and need it for that time.

Thanks, O x

Unfortunately for us we don't like beer or wine, I liked to take my own and only drank it in stateroom before getting ready, didn't take any last time as was in concierge, the amount they give you was probably more than what I would have taken anyway.

Yep, just have it in your hand luggage and hand it over at security. it's the easier way as the alternative is to leave it in your main luggage but let them rummage through it to find the lead and confiscate it. If you do the latter option, your case is more likely to be delayed getting to your room. They'll give you a receipt for it either way.

I know, it's gutting it's just wine and beer and as I hate both too! Even cider would be ok with me as I like the Rekordelig pear cider. Mick is happy about it though as he uses my allowance for more beers!

Please do not post details of how you have broken rules or how you may be able to do so.

The rules are clear. If you break them, you could ruin it for everyone else.
