Passport Validity
I did our on line check in this morning for the Alaska cruise and hit a slight problem. Both Steve and my passports expire Sept 2013 (the cruise is in July and we fly home in August) I couldn't complete check in as I got an error message saying passports had to be valid 6 months past disembarkation date. I changed the date to 2014 so that I could complete check in and get a port arrival time but I've asked Tracy (our TA) to contact Disney to sort it out as I don't want any hassle when we try to board.
Hopefully they won't insist on new passports as both the US and Canadian governments don't require the 6 month validity thing. Just wanted to give a heads up though to anyone who might have less than 6 months on their passports on a cruise. On a positive note, I managed to get a Palo brunch ressie

That's annoying Jakki, I wonder if anyone else has had a similar problem.
Well done on getting Palo's

Hopefully Tracy can sort it out as it would be a hassle getting new passports now as I'd have to re do ESTA's and API's

I'd get new passports now as you don't want trouble boarding the cruise.

They shouldn't have any trouble as its not a legal requirement. They just don't want you out staying your holiday!

Exactly, the governments of each country don't have a problem but Disney do. Tracy is on the case and if anyone can sort it she will but she could be up against Disney's computer system! If that's the case we'll just have to get new ones, should know later today

We have a similar problem for this years Med Cruise in August. My daughters passport expires in September - so I have looked into this issue previously.
We will be ordering a new one to avoid any problems. When you order a new passport they add on the period that was left on your old passport (up to nine months I think) to the 10 years, so you don't actually lose anything.

Thanks Gary, it probably makes sense to get new passports even with the hassle of new ESTA's and API info. I'll wait to hear back from our TA before making a final decision.

I've tried looking up what the regulation is - found something on DiscoverAmerica site which said you needed 6 months minimum left on your passport, but that was an unofficial site.
