I booked lunch yesterday & got 2pm no problem.

When we visit, we are often in Inventions for a good 2-3 hours at a minimum, enjoying the food, meeting all the characters and taking it all in.
that's a relief - THANK YOU!

What time would you suggest for the best character interaction? I'm a really fussy veggie (no meat or seafood) so would be more for characters than the food!

The "half past" times at lunch are primarily those given to those who are staying on site and adding a reservation to their booking. Just like at Auberge, where they do a similar thing.
As I understand it, they can then fill and remaining covers every quarter of an hour (subject to availability). They will have certain limits on how many they can comfortably seat every 15 minutes - which is actually pretty standard booking for restaurants.

They've certainly done this for the past few years, although I'm not sure exactly when it started.

As for the best time to book, we always go for the earliest booking possible. That's because we find the character interaction is at its best when they first open. They tend to spend more time with you because there are less tables to get around at first.

It also ensures at busy times, that you are more likely to see and meet all of the characters from that day. Whereas if you book for later, then your favourite character might only have one or two sessions left in the restaurant and not have time to get to in time. I'd be in big trouble if the Missus didn't get her hug from Eeyore!
