Itinerary change - help needed!
Given the current situation with the wildfires near Yosemite, we’re looking at changing our plans. If we cancel before next week, we won’t lose any money on accommodation or tours booked and we’re reluctant to spend all that money if the views are obscured and the air quality is so bad we can’t really do much outdoors. Of course, it could all change by then or the fires could still be raging on but the fact that they are now over 17000 acres and only 5% contained doesn’t make me feel that comfortable!
I need some suggestions of where else we could go. We are travelling between Las Vegas and San Francisco. Apparently anything north of the fire is smokey - we had looked at Lake Tahoe but apparently that has been affected by the smoke too. I don’t want to stay in Vegas or SF any longer than we had planned and neither do I want to double back on ourselves so I’m a bit stuck!

Such a shame about Yosemite. How about either Monterey, Santa Cruz (Henry Cowell Park is near here too) or Carmel.
Edit: Sorry just noticed you said between Vegas and SF. Could you come south through Sequoia area?

We could do but it seems like a massive waste of time. The original plan is LA - Las Vegas - Yosemite - San Francisco - Carmel - Santa Barbara. We've got things booked non-refundable so can't change too much.
I looked at coming from the south but to go up to SF and then back down again seems pointless.

Can you change your LV accomodation then you could do LA - Joshua Tree and then Vegas. We loved Joshua Tree!

How about Mammoth Lakes and then drive Tioga out there to SF to still get a taste of the Park?
