The dreaded sky contract renewal
So the 18m is up no email prior to offer any deal just checked my statement and charged double for the TV and broadband. Sat on the phone for 45 mins to be offered new packages equipment box sets I don't want for £20 more a month. Asked to be put thro to cancellations but had to hang up after waiting and waiting. Not bothered about TV can live with free view. Any ideas on getting a deal to save the cancellation hassle please?

Every time our contract is up I just phone them up and ask for a new deal. I've always been given one, never had to go through cancellations.
This time, due to covid restrictions, I spoke to them on their online chat. Still got a really good deal

Hold fire for the Black Friday deals if you can wait a week or two.
(If you can’t wait, call again , some agents are more “creative” with offers than others. The upgrade to Q is worth considering on cost alone as with the HD boxes you own the boxes so engineer visits cost , with Q they are free. If you boxes are old inevitably sooner or later they will have one issue or another. Edited at 01:57 PM. |

I normally use live chat, which is only offered when there’s someone available to speak to you. I find this much better than phoning. We only have TV, not mobile or internet, and we’ve got the normal package, cinema, Netflix and HD for £20 per month. It was the same price with our old HD box or with Q.

Have to be honest - the online renewal 'offer' I was sent was far less than the full package price and similar to what I was already paying. Didn't have to go through the rigmarole of ringing them - result 👍

Same as my package was paying £45 a month now £82 just for entertainment package & broadband. Not a chance i will keep paying that.

Mine has gone up but there are rumours virgin is digging on the estate so I am loathe to commit to 18 months of sky. I do resent having to pay extra though.

My contract was coming up for renewal recently and just before that happened we had a visit from our nephew, on saying to him about it he replied leave it to me. While staying with us he went on to the computer and had a live chat with Sky. We ended up being totally gobsmacked with the result. It took him some time (about 2 hours) but managed to get our existing package plus all BT Sports channels for £20 less than our previous price, plus no arrange fee as well. The lesson we learned from this was barter well without being rude and to stay VERY PATIENT.
