Ikspiari - The "Downtown Disney" For Tokyo

Ikspiari - the Tokyo Disney "version" of Downtown Disney / Disney Springs has had a few questions asked about it on here recently, and by good fortune is the subject of the latest TDR Explorer podcast - episode 228:

Now I still stand by my comments previously that this is nothing like the 2 in the US, but more a Japanese shopping mall that happens to be close to Disney in Tokyo and has a great Disney store but that was about it for shopping as far as I thought.

However, listening to the podcast gave me a desire to go back and give it another chance, as there are some gems in there I fancy a rummage in, now I know they are there. It also went over the food places in some detail which was really helpful.
For example the CD / DVD / Blu Ray store "Shinseido" - has more park soundtrack CD's (going back years) than are on sale in the parks, and also sells the DVD and blu ray sets of old park shows and parades - I just need to see if they are region locked discs 🙂

One thing they said was that the stores there never stock any of the Disney collaboration merchandise, even if stores in the rest of Japan sell them - for example Its Demo is a chain of like drug stores (more makeup etc, sorry am not sure what to call them!) who often do tie ins with Disney for things like anti-baq hand gels etc - well they say on the podcast the Its Demo at Ikspiari never sells those items - darn! Had hoped to get some small gifts there as the bigger store at Shibuya has closed.
