The brewery is Church End Brewery. It's housed in an old building that used to make coffins.

The two beers I had were
Fallen Angel - an English Bitter with American Hops
Stout Coffin - an oatmeal Stout

Thank you for sharing. I’ve had Church End beers before on my travels. Not yet tried either of those. More to add to my list.

And btw I fully embrace and support the idea of tryanuary.

I'm off to New Invention Brewery tomorrow.

It's in Bloxwich, West Mids.

Not strictly new to me as it's where I meet some other guys for our Brewing Club(12pm meet if you're interested), but it is a small independent that is steadily growing. During lockdown they increased their offering by providing beers by local delivery, that really boosted their local visibility.

If you are local-ish, pop in and give them a try, they serve made to order handmade pizza and about a dozen beers.

Still trying to stick to this. Had to go to the supermarket yesterday for spices and store cupboard staples but avoided the fresh stuff.
Veg may be dirtier from the farm but it certainly tastes better
Bought a couple of birthday cards local too

Walked into town on Saturday and picked up some veg from the market.

On the way back we pooped into a building that used to be the Conservative Club. It had been closed for a few years, a community group has been renovating it and opening it back the public. Had a lovely coffee and got talking to the lady running it. I explained how I used to work there when I was a student back in 1986. I showed her where the bar was, the layout of the two main rooms and told her about the 3 piece jazz band that used to play on Saturday afternoons. I'd talked to my wife loads of times about the room upstairs, the lady asked we'd like to have a look at it now. It was fascinated to go up the stairs and enter the hall/dance hall that is triple height vaulted, panelled and still with the superb sprung dance floor.

Amazing to see it 36 years after I last worked behind the bar up there on many a wedding day! This photo doesn't show the windows well but they are all original stained glass from 1892.
