Walt Disney World & DISNEY WISH

Hello 👋

We have finally booked our first disney cruise aboard the Disney Wish in May 2023! 🚢

Firstly, if anyone has any tips or tricks for a first time cruiser - please feel free to add below.

We are looking to book Walt Disney World before we board our cruise - has anyone done this before, can provide any feedback/ thoughts and share their experiences in doing a trip combined like this? ✨

Thanks in advance 😃

Don't panic/be disappointed about not being able to book activities (mostly drink tastings) - there are always openings on board on the first day.

Don't worry about the dress code - whatever you wear and you're comfortable in will be the right thing to wear. Some people dress up, some don't.

Disney ships are not party boats so don't expect much going on much after 11, most people will be in bed by then. Treat it likes the parks - get up early and make the most of the day.

Your servers are excellent - if you have any issues with the food then speak up - they will do their most to accommodate you.

If driving it might be cheaper to keep the car for the 3/4 nights you are on the ship and park it at the port rather than a split booking.

Make sure you check in bang on the dot of the date you can check in so you can get the earliest Port Arrival Time possible.

Thank you! This is super helpful. Can’t wait to check in/ book activities already! Quite some time to go yet 😂

We've been on the Magic and Wonder, not done the 'big' ships yet.

We've got the Wish booked for Sept 2022 followed by the Dream 3 days later. Looking forward to the different venues on board.

So I'm doing the wish in September this year (assuming the world doesn't go crazier than it currently is).

On the large ships (Dream) I find that you really do need to prioritise what you want to do as there is so much going on and you just can't do it all.

I'm doing the cruise then WDW this time. I did it the other way around for the Dream and actually felt more knackered from the cruise than from Disney. That said I also felt that with the current testing requirements booking the cruise first would help to reduce the risk of a positive test at the port.

Personally Nassau as a port to me is a bit of a muchness and I would be inclined to skip and enjoy the ship instead. Lots of people get off which makes the ship quieter and so you can explore more. Castaway however is beautiful so make sure you get off and explore (lunch is served BBQ style on the island so worth venturing out for that).

If you are into your characters, watch out on the daily navigators for whos out where to ensure you get photos of your favourites. Also some have different outfits for formal/dress up night and pirate night as well as the first day.

If you like cocktails then look at their drink tastings as although they cost money they are usually great value and give you a fun experience

If you want to do an adult only meal then think about doing brunch rather than dinner so as not to miss one of the restaurant experiences
