There's No 'F' in Adele (Don't Stop Believing) Day 17 *THE END*
Day Seventeen 29th September 2012
The index is HERE This is it dear reader, the last day of our holiday. It’s not the best feeling in the world so we’ll crack on with it and not dwell on our emotions on this day. Now, we don’t do last minute panic packing anymore, instead we were up at 8:00am and enjoyed a relaxed pre-departure cuppa. As if by fate, the hot air balloons were more spectacular today than any other day of the holiday. We packed our overnight things, had a quick tidy up and put the bins out and were locking up the villa by 9am. Experience has taught us that if you can get to Downtown Disney long before the normal 10:30-11:00 mandatory villa exit times, the check-in desks will be empty. When we arrived at DTD there wasn’t a soul there and we were soon checked in and cases despatched. We made a quick detour to the World of Disney for a phone cover for Lynn and then started our day proper. Universal was to be our destination for this final morning and having skipped breakfast in favour of getting to DTD, we headed for the nearest iHop. We chose the iHop near Crossroads and it was packed! Although we were told it would be a 15 minutes wait, because we were a ‘four’ and the other people waiting were in large parties we were seated inside 5 minutes. Breakfast was delicious and looked like this. I’m sure we must have eaten our own body weights in iHop’s Butter Pecan syrup this holiday! Delish! We must have been depressed this morning as my notes tell me that the question Lynn and I debated over breakfast was “Would you rather die because your body fails you or because your mind fails you”. I chose ‘mind’ because you don’t know the end is coming. Who wants to be stuck in a decrepit body with the same mind you had at 18! You can tell we were going home. We must have been a real pleasure to be around over that table! We perked up once the sugar rush kicked in and we were soon inside Universal Studios. Minion Mayhem was a 35 minute wait so we skipped that. RRR was 25 minutes but Lauren was desperate for one last go, so I fell on the sword and took her on. We were lucky enough to get the front row and it’s a lot better ride at the front. We did disaster and then stopped for drinks. Maddy can’t have been feeling her sugar rush yet so she ordered a Churros! (Is Churros plural, singular or both? ) Anyway, she ate one. More Coke Fusions were consumed and we made our way around to MiB. We quickly followed that up with one last go on the Simpsons. Lynn took up her usual spot in the sun. After the Simpsons we meandered slowly around the rest of the park. ET was a 30 minute wait so we kept on walking. Ironically, “Memories” was playing in the park as we walked back to the entrance and the mood was again, sombre. Finding ourselves back where we started and timing the parade perfectly again, we took it in one last time before a little last minute shopping (toys and a Potter t-shirt) and then we exited. It was 2:40pm now and we decided to drop into the Florida Mall one last time to try and get the kids new winter coats. Regular readers (the ladies) may remember that we nearly always get the kids coats from ‘The Children’s Place’ but once again on this trip, there weren’t any. Which meant I had to dig deep and get them from Abercrombie & Fitch instead! It was time for the airport. The journey was easy enough and as we approached the terminal building a Virgin Airbus (ours for the flight home) landed right in front of us. Lynn, being her usual generous, good natured self said “Look at those lucky BLEEPS! They’ve got a holiday waiting to happen………………………I hope it chucks it down!” Generous to the last my wife is. She didn’t mean it obviously and I’m sure you can all empathise. We pulled into Dollar’s car park and the lady who scanned the car said “I can’t check you in here, you’ll have to go inside to a desk” I took this to mean “You’ll have to go inside as they want to strain some more money out of you” I was livid. I just wanted to get rid of the cases and deal with going home. So I loaded up a trolley and trooped over to the Dollar desk. Luckily I was seen straight away. The conversation went like this…………… Me………The girl in the garage said I had to come in here to settle my bill. There is no way on the face of this earth I’m paying any more than I already have! Dollar man………. (English bloke)……..Let me just have a look at your account sir first before we do anything rash. Dollar man………’tap tap tap on a keyboard’ Dollar man……….It seems you won’t have to assault me sir, we owe you money! Me…………………..Shut up! Dollar man……….No honestly sir, we owe you……………..45 cents! Dollar desk attendants…………………….MUFFLED LAUGTHER Me…………………..You’ve dragged me in here for 45 cents? ! Dollar man………I tell you what sir, make up the difference and we’ll commemorate your windfall with a brand new silver half dollar? Me…………You’re on! I’ll put it on my office wall as it’ll never happen again! I’ve still got my half dollar! We waltzed through security and on autopilot went straight to the gates, forgetting that we would normally feed the kids at McDonalds as a treat. Cast your minds back 17 days to this photo of us arriving on the monorail Now look at today’s photo. We took the kids to Burger King, bought snacks for the plane and last minute perfume etc before boarding bang on time. I sent one last tweet from the runway, took a last photo of Virgin’s Monopoly of MCO and we were off. The flight was pretty good. The kids ate some of their kids meals. Lynn and I made do with the burger king meal and passed on Virgin’s slop. We read, watched a film or two and then all tried to get some sleep. At some point the wheels touched down in a grey and miserable Manchester and it was all over. I’d prepared a sick bag just in case Maddy spewed during the descent but for the second holiday in a row, she didn’t. Instead she spewed 5 minutes later just as we were about to leave the plane! Bloody kids! All over the seat! It was a truly GREAT holiday. We were lucky that it was our second trip to Florida of 2012 and it’s hard to know which one was better. Perhaps it was the second one as, we didn’t hear Adele once! (No offence Adele if you're reading this, but 10 times a day was a bit extreme!) Well, that’s it! All it leaves me to say is, thanks for reading this dribble. A million thanks for all the lovely comments that you’ve all left and see you next time! (That’s going to seem pretty daft if you’re reading this in June 2016) Wizzo

Many thanks for your trip reports - I've really enjoyed reading them. I've particularly enjoyed your photos, especially as it is only 3 months until we return to the beautiful Sunset Lakes (in fact, we might take you in in the 'bass challenge'!
Merry Christmas. 🎄

Truly magnificent trip report as ever. The pictures of the girls on the monorail made me feel so sad! In the first one it's as though they are looking towards all the fun that awaits them, and the second, well, that's how we all feel coming home isn't it
As for Lyn's comment about the rain if I remember correctly, we arrived last October just as you were leaving, and it did just that! Happy Christmas to you all, and I'll look forward to your next trippy that no doubt you'll be starting as soon as your Christmas tree is down 😊
