Yep here now too and they everywhere. Swarms of them leaving MK at 1pm today. Arrived back to villa and had to make a dash through a swarm at the front door lol then spent 20 minutes chasing the few that got in ! My ds was not a happy camper. Been before in May and didn’t see any. Just annoying really but for ds (who’s asd) they freak him out and he’s not keen to go outside now. Early morning is not too bad though !

On Sunday by the pool I decided with the aid of my trusty flip flop to end their marital bliss
The area around my sun lounger looked like a bug cemetery. Lots of children in strollers freaking out in DHS today. I haven't seen so many in the 25 years we have been coming here. Hey ho nothing we can do so not worth worrying. Soon be gone

They seemed far less obvious in the cool morning. I guess this year is just an unlucky one for both the love bugs and the rain - not had a lot of either before at end of April/beginning of May.

I’ve heard the love bugs are normally around for 2 weeks in May? Given that they’ve been around for at least a week or so already, is it wishful thinking that they might be gone by the time we land in 9 days time?

Oh god, reading this and after googling I think I'm going to change my dates next year. We went end of Sept 2010 and it was awful with them. I swore never again and what do I do.. Same dates 10 years later... I couldn't stand it.. I was running in and out of doorways through them. Ugh.. I think I've picked very badly.

This will be strange for some but I rather like seeing them, going back to being a kid, they'd always be everywhere when we went to Florida. Me and my brother spent hours picking them out of pools and sending them on their merry ways. They've always been the indication of being in Florida.
It's a sign of a healthy ecosystem, the last time we went (2014), we didn't see many of them. The fish & birds will be eating well this year! |

Is there any pattern to them ie if lots in may there will be lots in Sept or following year?.. Really stressing now about next year, as I really did not like them. Can't move booking by a few weeks as ddp offer isn't on then.
