Spaceship Earth
Hi everyone,
I am new here so I apologise if this topic has already been brought up! I was wondering if anyone knows a date for when spaceship earth is due to close for its big reveal? I am going on a solo trip in November and really wanted to go on this a few times. fingers crossed it is still going when I am there! thanks :-) xx |

I don't think anyone can say with any degree of certainty until it appears on the refurb lists.
If you've not ridden it already it's nothing special IMO. It was closed on a previous trip and we really didn't miss out not riding it. |

That's sacrilege!
I'm kidding. I really like it but the ride itself is far from thrilling - the most thrilling bit is getting on and off the ride. But I enjoy it's gentle and educational nature, the interactive bit at the end is fun and the big reveal of "Spaceship Earth" near the end is reasonably impressive the first time you see it (or maybe that's just me?). As for the refurb, remember that it is just a rumour. Disney haven't actually officially said it will close. So we really don't know when, or even if, it will happen. However, potentially good news for the OP - the current rumours are that Spaceship Earth may close towards the end of this year for its 2 year long refurb. So they may get to go on it in November (maybe)!

I thought I read it was closing in 2020 - but cant be sure if that was an official article or just hearsay?

thanks all!
its more for sentimental reasons really. I first went on it in 1994 with my grandparents and my nan was telling me all about it as we were going round. I've been on it every trip since (been 14 times ha ha!), but it's just a special ride for those reasons, and even more so now that nan and grandad passed away at Christmas. fingers crossed it remains open for me in November so I can have one last go :-) |

Im with you. This ride is wonderful, classic, gentle and really what Disney started out doing. Okay there is no thrill rides and Disney music but we love it and always will.
Hope they don't spoil it, like they have done so many other things. Bring back the Walter Kronkite version too. x

I remember going on it with my nan back in 94 and the bit (that they have now removed to add the silly video in at the end when you are rotating backwards), was the bit where the mum was saying goodnight to her child over a computer screen (does anyone else remember that bit?!)... we remember seeing it back then and laughing saying "that will never happen!", and now look... I could FaceTime my parents from outside spaceship earth and they could see it with me! crazy times! :-)

I love it for nostalgia but it does need a major update. I bought recently a candle from Maple & Whisky that smells just like the "Rome burning" scene ha ha, it's spookily accurate.
