Has the time come

Looking at 2 weeks Universal's Aventura hotel.

Hotel overnight parking at £186
Car hire economy £336
10x parking at Disney £196
Fuel £27

Total £745

That is an awful lot of money to have sitting around car parks

Think I may ditch the car and use Uber next trip. Anyone else thought this.

Mike. One word. No.

To me a car is freedom to do what I want when I want.

I have hired cars in the States since 1976 and can't see me stopping anytime soon.

I do agree though that it's not cheap so I don't crtiticise anybody who does rethink their plans.

We did a bit of both! When staying at Disney we didn’t bother too much and got Uber or lyft to pop up the 192 for dinner if we fancied it . We got an Uber Up to universal for our night at the royal Pacific and then picked up the car from there for the next few days to go farther afield. Our next trip ( keeping everything crossed) we’re picking up a car from the airport for one night. Staying on the 192 for the first night, we’ll go to Walmart for supplies & have some dinner then in the morning head to Pop to check in, dump cases & drop car to the Disney car care place before heading to the park. The first week or so we wont bother with a car but will pick it up from universal again.

How are you getting 10 disney parking for $196? I thought it was $25 a day? Is there a trick?

We said we would rethink next time. We always have the car to get out n get essentials & bit of trainers/Levi's shopping but last September we had angelbabe do all our pre shopping for arrival. We parked the car on arrival from airport n never even saw it again till we got in it to drive back to the airport on return!

We have considered this but only if we stayed on site at Disney with ddp, which we haven’t ever done, but are thinking about in a couple of years.
I think in this instance we would just about cope as we do like to get out and about, but if we were offsite then I don’t think we could do without a car.

We’ve considered it but I just can’t see me letting go of the car entirely. It’ll ultimately depend on where we end up staying next time I think. We’ve not had to pay for parking at Disney yet so that is a factor but I really like having the car. I suspect we’ll get one for at least part of the trip and just factor it in.
