August is not peak time.

It makes more sense than the original plan when it was closed during June and July - which Disney does consider peak times. And if they move it any later, then it won't be open around Thanksgiving, which is also a peak time.

I realise that's not much comfort for those visiting in August, September or October. But this way, the closure affects the least amount of people it can.

i didnt realise August wasnt classed as peak time ! US & UK school holidays? * they will also miss Halloween and only have 6 days slippage on the re open date of the 18th re open in time for Thanksgiving on the 24th...

still such is life !

* i appreciate UK visitors are a small % of overall

The US schools tend to go back in mid August (it's a bit variable in the US so not quite so clear cut as it is here). So the latter half of August tends to be less busy.

But for some reason Disney considers August "regular" season rather than "peak" season. September is "value" season and the quietest Disney ever gets. Halloween is not that busy - at least not as busy as July or the third week in November.

What surprises me is the amount of time that's required to refurb the ride. Three months seems a long time just to check everything is ok and maybe give it a new coat of paint!

We are doing the early morning magic event on this day so we could have gone straight there to be in line before rope drop but I think we will manage to get barnstormer, dumbo, little mermaid and carousel done easily first thing as we are going to already be in that area and they are less popular at rope drop than the big ones so having a FP for it is great. I swapped it with one I had for the speedway but we should be able to get in that using a DAS pass reasonably easily. How exciting!
