We booked our Hertz rental with OH's CC, but Im the only name driver and I don't have a CC, only a Visa Debit. Will this be a problem? I noticed my booking confirmation states Credit Card in the name of driver will be required. I really don't want to get a CC, as ive been a naughty girl with them years ago and not had one since.

Hertz accept Debit Cards.. So providing you have one in your name you should be good. Card needs to be in lead drivers name.

Right so now I'm confused lol

My mum is paying for car hire as she doesn't like driving but wants me to drive, I don't mind

Does the payment card need to be in my name as I'm driving?

Lead driver has to produce a card in their name it doesn't have to be the same card that you have paid with, so in your instance your mum pays for the car hire but you will need to show a card in your name to allow for charges like tolls, fuel etc. Debit cards are fine as long as it has the visa sign.

Does anyone know what the hold amount is with Alamo? We don't have credit cards, just debit cards.

I'm almost sure they didn't hold anything on my card last time. I could be wrong though.

We used them last year and they never put a hold on funds but I'm not sure if that was just luck or not.

Call Alamo and ask. some credit cards seem to hold different amounts for different rental facilities. My last car rental was a $400.00 hold and I think it was with Alamo. Not in Florida, though.
