Day 4

Lunch at the Villa

As some of the group were feeling un-well we decided to spend the rest of the afternoon in the villa, making use of the hot tub and the pool.

We left Animal Kingdom at around 1:45pm, so had a lunch of cooked chicken and chips which we picked up from a supermarket on the Formosa Gardens Village.

The Boathouse

We had a reservation booked for 7:25pm, only 6 of us actually ended up eating here. Everyone else was still feeling un-well and my sister had been asleep ever since we returned from the Animal Kingdom.

We arrived at Disney Springs at around 7:00pm, this was our first visit here since they opened up the Marketplace and OMG, it has completely changed. It was quite busy, but we had a little stroll taking everything in as we walked to the Boathouse.

When we arrived at the restaurant they told us to wait by the bar area or look in the gift shop, me and Kevin took a stroll outside and had a look at the water and Dockside bar, I thought the restaurant was beautiful, we attempted to take some pictures but they came out a little blurry.

We were waiting for around 10 minutes until they called us over to our table, our server in here was quite rude and anytime we asked him a question about the menu/ food he responded very bluntly and over-all his service was quite poor. It was also strange, we had two servers who kept appearing at our table, one of them was lovely and very helpful, and unfortunately we didn’t see him as much as his grumpy friend.

Anyway on to the food, me and Kevin decided we would share tonight as we wanted a starter and a pudding but we knew we would be to full if we also had our own main meal.

To start we had:

Florida Style Smokehouse Fish Dip - $13
“Cherrywood Smoked, White Corn Tortilla Chips”

Also pictured were the free bread rolls, they bring these to your table warm. The starter was perfect for sharing, there is no way I could have finished this by myself so I am so glad we decided to share, I was expecting it to be like a paste, but it was more flaky similar to tuna if you lightly mix it, it was very good though and I really enjoyed it.

It was at this point that my mum had to bail, she was feeling unwell and the smell of food was making her queasy she was extremely gutted as this was the meal she had most been looking forward too. Her and my brother’s fiancé decided to take a walk outside and wait for us to finish our meals.

New England Lobster Roll - $29
“Fresh whole Maine Lobster, Toasted Split Top Bun served with fresh Cut Fries”

We told the server (the nice server) we were sharing this and we asked to share a portion of the Truffle Fries, which he told us we were able to upgrade the fries that came with the meal for an extra $2.99.

My pictures didn’t come out very clear because of the lighting, but this was a really delicious meal. I have never had a lobster roll before, so have nothing to base this from but it was amazing and tasted so fresh. I would 100% order this again.

This is where the server became really rude, after they took our dinner plates away he left us sat there for 10/15 minutes without offering us anymore drinks or dessert menus. Eventually I was able to call him over and said we would like to look at the desserts, he came back over and only gave us two? A table of 6 adults and he only bought 2 dessert menus, luckily only 3 of us fancied a dessert.

He came back to the table about 5 minutes later and we were still deciding it was between the chocolate bundt cake or S’mores Baked Alaska (which serves 4). When he asked what we were having, I looked at my dad and asked if he and my cousin wanted to share the S’mores dessert with us and they said yes, as I turned round to continue speaking to the server he had walked away, literally mid conversation with him and he walked off. Obviously we didn’t end up ordering a dessert and we did want to leave a minimal tip but due to the other lovely server, we wasn’t sure if he would get a share and didn’t want to miss out due to his rude friend.

Day 4

Ghirardelli

As my dad and brother went to meet my mum and brother partner in World of Disney, I was feeling disappointed about my lack of dessert in The Boathouse, so came up with the bright idea that me and Kevin should share something from Ghirardelli.

The Treasure Island Warm Brownie Sundae - $9.45
“Vanilla Ice Cream paired with our warm Double Chocolate Brownie, smothered with freshly homemade Hot Fudge and topped with Whipped Cream, Chopped Almonds and a Cherry”.

I love love love the Ghirardelli brownies, brownies are my all-time favourite dessert. If I go out for dinner and there is a brownie on the menu I will 99% of the time have to order it regardless of how full I am, every Christmas I go to Costco and buy the Ghirardelli brownie kit, and it makes 4 HUGE batches of brownies, my brother always happens to visiting my mums house whenever we have them in…

So there are no doubts that I enjoyed this.

Oh my goodness... you can't beat Ghirardelli... there are so many other places I want to try in Disney Springs but I feel like I can't miss out on Ghirardelli!

Shame about your Boathouse server, because the food looked fab!

There ice creams and hot chocolate are so yummy. I completley agree with you, so many other places I want to try but I'm always drawn back to my trusted favourite.

The food was honestly so so good, I wouldn't let him put me off going there again. I'm glad we had 1 nice server to make up for it though!

Ugh, shame about that rude server at The Boathouse as the food looks lovely!

I'm a peanut butter fiend too so might have to make room (buy an extra case) for that giant bag of peanut butter cups next time we go!

Great report so far! x

In 2017 look out for food trucks in Orlando. There is at least one which specialises in Lobster and you will get 50% more lobster for around $21.

Day 5

Epcot

So today we were down another 4 due to the sickness bug, Kevin, dad, brother and my other nephew all had it this time so none of them were up to coming out today.

Mum and sister were both feeling better today, we ate Oreo's and bagels and decided what to do for the day. We figured we would go to Epcot as we had a reservation for Beaches and Cream at 3pm, dad gave us a lift to Epcot at 10:30 but decided he wanted to get back to the villa as he couldn’t face walking round the park.

Starbucks Fountain View

We were doing baby swap on TestTrack, the queue was 60 minutes. Me, mum and brothers partner decided to grab some food and coffees in Starbucks.

Sausage, Cheddar & Egg Breakfast Sandwich/ coffees - $25

I prefer this to the McDonalds version as I thought it was less greasy, we also got some apple slices with caramel sauce and 3 vanilla iced lattes.

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop

Our reservation was for 3:15pm, so at around 2:45pm we made our way through World Showcase to exit through the Boardwalk.

Upon arriving we had about a 15 minute wait, there was a bit of confusion because we had 2 reservations for here. So we had to split up, 6 of us sat in a booth and the other 3 sat at a table.

Kitchen Sink - $29

“Chocolate Lovers’ Sink ice cream is simply chocolate, cookies and cream and vanilla, and the toppings are the chocolate variety, brownies, candy bars, Oreos, and chocolate sauce, chips, sprinkles, and shavings”.

We subbed the whole can of whipped cream to just half a can, some of the group didn’t really like whipped cream.

Before:

During:

She was joking by the way and posed for the picture, we really don't eat like animals.

After:

This was the result of 6 people sharing the kitchen sink, I'm going to put this down to the people who were ill on the previous day getting their appetites back .

The food was glorious, let's just hope he was having a bad day and doesn't act that way towards all his customers!

Definitely make room for all the peanut butter goodies you can bring back...

Thank you for reading x

Do you know where the food trucks will be located?

Day 5

Red Lobster

Everyone managed to make it to dinner tonight, more because they were getting cabin fever and wanted to get out of the villa.

Kevin didn’t fancy a meal here tonight as he still wasn't feeling 100%, so I took a picture of what me, my sister and my cousin ate. I also fancied a cocktail with dinner tonight so chose:

Mango Mai Tai
“Our famous Mai Tai, made with mango Malibu Rum for that extra tropical taste.”

I didn’t note the price for this, but I think it was $9.99

Cheddar Biscuits & Salad

The best part of eating at red lobster is the warm cheddar biscuits they bring to your table, our server was on the ball and she brought these to us before we even had chance to open to menu.

With most main orders you also get a the choice of a salad, I opted for the Caesar.

Salmon New Orleans - $18.99
“Fresh Atlantic salmon, blackened and topped with shrimp tossed in a Cajun butter sauce then topped with a touch of pico de gallo for extra kick. Served with your choice of two sides.”

I chose broccoli and rice as my side orders.

My mum recommended this dish to me, they ate here the night we went to HHN and this was what she ordered. I really enjoyed it, I love salmon and this was cooked perfectly.

White Wine and Roasted Garlic Mussels - $10.49
“Tender mussels steamed in white wine with roasted garlic, roasted tomatoes and green onions. Served with grilled artisan bread for soaking up all that delicious broth.”

Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp - $9.99
“Hand-dipped jumbo shrimp tossed in flaky coconut and fried until perfectly crisp. Dunk them in our signature piña colada sauce”.

My cousin chose two appetizers as her main:

These were a HUGE portions, I don't think the picture justifies just how massive those coconut shrimp were. She struggled to finish it alone, so everyone on the table helped her finish them. The white wine and garlic sauce was so yummy and the coconut shrimp were lovely, the sauce it came with was OK with the shrimp but on its own it wasn't very nice.

Seaside Shrimp Trio - $19.49
“Walt’s Favorite Shrimp, hand-crafted garlic shrimp scampi and our famous shrimp linguini Alfredo.”

This was my sisters choice:

Kevin’s plate:

He wasn’t hungry, but asked to share some of my broccoli…

Warm Chocolate Chip Lava Cookie - $6.49
“A warm, king-sized chocolate chip cookie with a gooey, molten chocolatey center. Topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and rich chocolate sauce.”

Neither of us fancied a dessert to ourselves, but we decided to share this:

This dessert was aammazing. I was really torn between this and the chocolate wave cake, but I am so glad we chose this.

We really enjoyed our meals in here, everything tasted really fresh and our server was absolutely amazing and worked really hard to keep us happy and we left feeling very satisfied.
