Purchasing property in Orlando, Florida - Where to start ?
Hi,
I'm considering purchasing a property in Orlando and was looking for anyone who has done the same. I would like to have a look around a few properties next time we are in the area and wondered where the best place is to start ? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Thanks Gryff. I'll take a look at that.
Would like to look at a few properties to see what we can get for what money. Is finding a 'good' realtor easier said than done ? - Do they have something like Tripadvisor for Realtors ? |

If you go onto Team Donovan web site you can go into each community and see what is for sale and what prices of villas etc have been sold recently, they update on the 15th of each month.
Have an idea of which community you are interested in. when we bought we drove around for two days looking at new communites been built and older communites then decided we wanted on Sunset Lakes so went to an realtor who showed us 3 properties. To be truthful our villa needed a lot of work doing but we could see what it could look like in the end. Don't go with property companies that will give you a cheap trip out as they will only show you what they want you to buy. There is a number of threads on here about costs running a place in the sunshine state. As other villa owners will say "Research, Research and More Research" Good Luck and if you have any other questions, please ask. Melvin and Lesley

Thank you for the information from both of you so far - It is really useful.
I'll try and find the thread you mentioned about running costs, as that would be really useful. |

As someone who has bought and sold, I would advise only to buy if you can afford not to rent it out unless you want a full time job sorting out all the rentals, stupid questions, taxes, management company and problems.
