Once paramedics arrived. and I knew the guy was in good hands we went through the Turnstiles and got to the lockers at Hagrid. We were told it was 90 mins. An employee told us they say that to everyone. We got on and it took us 30 mins! Done the ride twice in 2 weeks and it’s superb. The key is to get there for rope drop..any later and you are looking at 2 to 3 hrs!

I enquired about the guy later but no one could tell us anything
Luckily you were there to at least give him a fighting chance!
They could have let you by pass the queue though

Just returned from a week at Portofino
We were just strolling past last Thursday late afternoon - cast member told us line was closing for the night so decided to have a go - we walked straight on. I don’t like early mornings so this was great for me.

Tim Tracker had an advertised 45 min wait a couple of days ago at around 19:00 and he didn’t say he waited longer, he was more focused on that the single rider line was closed!

It was down all morning today so we didn’t get to go at rope drop. We got in a 120 min line at 4.30pm today and got almost to the front in 1 hour 20 mins - then it went down! We have been waiting for 30 mins now and still no indication of when it will be back up. We leave for Colombia tomorrow so this is literally our only chance to ride it, I’m going to be soooo gutted if we get kicked out of the queue

EDIT: we got kicked out after nearly 3.5 hours of queuing. Turns out the reason was bees on the track. We have been given a ruby FP but it’s no good for us as we leave tomorrow first thing. I’m gutted

Tried to get in line this morning at 9.10 and was told that it was already a three hour wait. spoke to cm and he suggested coming back after 12.00 as normally a bit quiter about then. came back at 12.00 and then qued for about 80 mins and it went down . WE were informed that they hadno idea when it would be back up as they had to go out and rescue people from the track. gave up at this pointe and spoke to another cm who said that it had been breaking down all day

Its probably the most complex rollercoaster ever made. Going to be a while before they get all the bugs out of the system.

I rode Hagrid today. In a nutshell, the whole thing is an absolute mess and in my opinion Universal need to get it closed down until they can sort their issues out. I don’t believe people have an issue with waiting hours for a ride if there are large crowds, however this morning our experience was as follows:

In line at 9:05
Informed an hour wait from the lockers.
We got to the child swap room after (a quick) 55 minutes. It then took until 12:02 until my wife got off as the ride broke down three times. In the subsequent 2 hour period.

When I got in line, I got loaded on and it broke again for 10 minutes.

It took us 3.5 hours to get on. It seemed a lot quicker and the ride is great but not great enough for that!

As I say, Universal has a serious issue here. They are heavily advertising a ride to attract customers, however they are unable to run the ride effectively. I understand there are breakdowns or shut downs for safety, however this is unacceptable.

I don’t buy that. I don’t think it’s much more advanced than others I have been on bar one bit - I won’t give spoilers. It’s definitely not of an advanced level to merit those breakdowns.

Look at alton towers. 13 was constantly down in the first years while they perfected the drop section and it still one of the most unreliable rides due to the complex nature of it. The universal one is a bit different and it's reverse section involves a incredibly quick switch track section which is no doubt also causing problems.. This combined with god knows how many launch sections which also cause problems.

It has a reasonably complex block breaking system and I bet they are having the usual issues like carriage parking in the loading station. You also have special effects and animotronics.

Other roller coasters do the same bits but there aren't many if any rides that have so much complex stuff thrown into one ride.

Simpler rides tend to have issues in the first year so it's not surprise this beast is having issues.

All together it's an extremely complex package. People take it too much for granted how complex these ride systems are.

Universal is a completely different monster to AT in my opinion..

Again, only my opinion, but if you can’t rely on an attraction to work properly, don’t open it until it is ready. They made a rod for their back by announcing an opening date. Stick to soft openings and make people aware it is in a testing phase.

People spend far too much visiting these places to have 4 breakdowns in 4 hours. That’s extreme. Based on my experience it is really frstiraring guests now and is not good for PR
