I was once with my auntie as a kid and she cut a big lettuce in half to start shredding to make a salad and she cut through a slug.
I remember her saying how she couldn't get the slime off the knife. Ugh. She was freaked out and had to chuck the knife and plate away. I always think about slugs now when I see full lettuces

That's why I wash thoroughly in salted water as slugs are bound to have crawled over them 🤮
Think of what we could be eating in restaurants though 😱

Oh me too!
I couldn't not wash them! My auntie's incident was way back in late 70's and I'm not sure she was into washing salad like we do these days Yes, we trust restaurants etc to wash the veg!

This same incindent with a tooth and a chinese was in our local paper recently. The popular opinion was that it was the tooth of a pig as they look similar to humans... as if that makes it ok!?!?

ok, everyone on this thread needs to start putting me off chocolate and snacks - not fruit and veg worried about dinner now...
we actually grow a lot of our own fruit and veg and you should see what crawls out. |
