Mobile New, old, borrowed and blue

To those ladies who are married, did you do this?
My dress would be my new, and I have borrowed my best friends shoes from when she got married.

It’s the old and blue i’m Struggling with. My other jewellery that I still wear all came from my ex who was excellent at buying jewellery, so seems wrong to use any of that.
Unfortunately my grandmothers are dead and i’m estranged from my Mum 😢

How about a blue garter? Or a bit of blue in your flowers? Old was my Grandmother’s ring.

Yeah, me and my two sisters did this. I lent my sister a little horseshoe with a blue crystal on as her old, borrowed and blue, my other sister bought it me as my new and blue. There are lots of ideas on Etsy and Not On The High Street that include a lucky sixpence as an old, some of the them have all 4 in the same item.

I had a bangle from my 21st birthday as old, my dress/tiara/shoes for new, I borrowed my bridesmaid’s pearl necklace and I had a garter with a blue bow on it.

I don’t personally see the problem with wearing jewellery your ex bought you if you like it and it fits the bill. Some people are superstitious but if you’d wear it generally I don’t see how your wedding day is different. I know someone who got married in the same dress she married her ex husband in - and they’re 8 years down the line and (touch wood) in a happy marriage.

I did not. My wedding was a civil ceremony job in a 20 quid dress from New Look and clashing bright red shoes from Primark!

For my blue, my now DH bought me a Pandora ring with aquamarine as part of a set for Xmas. Our wedding was in January - it was a lovely gesture because he chose it as it was my mum's birthstone (she had died the previous May).

I had blue underwear (as an Everton fan it seemed appropriate) 🤣

I did this when I got married. I can’t remember ‘Old’ but my ‘New’ was pearl drop earrings, ‘borrowed’ was my SILs veil. My ‘blue’ was a garter.
