It’s very worrying that they might bring this back again

Even if they do it’s not mandatory, you don’t have to shield you can use personal responsibility, assess the risk and decide for yourself.

I certainly wouldn’t shield, my mental and physical health would suffer,but maybe that’s just me

I think it is more worrying that they ever stopped it.

People who are vulnerable need to shield, if they can't work this out for themselves then the authorities need to step in and legislate - which it looks like they are about to do

Goodness, now we are old and thick. We shielded religously for the allotted time. Since then we have been out and about and on holiday twice taking into consideration the rulings. The cafes and restaurants in the West Country were excellent in their covid conditions.
Winter weather will confine most people to barracks and help a little surely without drastic measures.

But it's not mandatory to shield or not shield so it actually makes little difference.People can follow or not follow the recommendation whatever that may be.

So what are you proposing? I could get locked in my house and fined if I go out?

I'm not suggesting anything, I will leave that to people who are experts in virology and transmission.

I'm just saying that shielding isn't worrying, not shielding when it is being recommended (which it isn't at the moment) is worrying

Before much longer they'll have us rounded up in camps. They talk about protecting the vulnerable but fail to understand that being over s certain age does not make you vulnerable, ignoring my current situation, I normally walk two hours every day, we have a smallholding, so I'm working all day, I teach part time in the evenings. Ah no wait... I knit. Must be vulnerable then. ,
