Hospital Acquired Covid - Mum - Sad Update

I can’t believe the week we have had. On Monday I appealed to Welsh Dibbers for help as Mother had been admitted to hospital and I wasn’t sure where I could stay if I travelled down there due to the Wales Firebreak followed quickly by England’s lockdown. (I live in Staffordshire)

The hospital have not been accepting any visitors so I didn’t go down in the end and have been communicating with the hospital and my brothers who all live down there by phone and text. I have been ultra careful to avoid Covid as Staffordshire is becoming a bit of a hotspot and there is no way I could go down there if there was any threat of me having the virus and when the time comes I want to be 100% clear to whizz down there!

Unfortunately Mum has had a difficult week resulting in more and more bad news every day

Day 1 - Resus/A&E
Day 2 - On a trolley bed in A&E whilst waiting for a bed
Day 3-7 - Clinical Decision Unit with the following updates - one per day!
Bacterial infection in blood
Acute Kidney Injury
Clot in lung
Clot in 2 lungs
Pneumonia

Day 6 - transferred to ward

Just when we thought it couldn’t get worse

Day 7 - Coronovirus outbreak on ward

Day 8 (today) - confirmed mum has tested positive!

I can’t take much more of this stress!

Poor mum!

Please someone tell me that she could still fight this!

Your mum is in the best place, despite catching Covid. I'm sure she'll get the best care and hopefully just a mild dose of covid and speedy recovery from everything else x

I’m so sorry to hear this, I can imagine how worried you are. Your mum can fight this, we hear of many older people in the news each day who do, so don’t give up hope. It may be a battle but I really hope your mum comes through. I’m sending you all my best wishes and prayers 💕

OP. I am so sorry to hear your news and fingers crossed everything turns out ok.

Some advice from an old dog. Ring the Hospital tomorrow and ask will they allow you to see Mum even if fully gowned and masked up. I would do this sooner rather than later.
