Anyone have experience with Travel Up

Hi all, I booked a flight to Orlando from LGW in 10 December with BA through Travel Up.
I called the agency today and they said the flight has been cancelled and I am entitled to a refund. However, they are insisting they are to charge me a £50 handling fee.

Is this legal, or even allowable?

I think it’s unreasonable that they are allowed to charge this when I never cancelled the flight.

I am also aware that other agencies have been told they have acted incorrectly and unlawfully by charging handling fees.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks all

They set their own rules that you agree to when making a booking with them. Legally OK, morally suspect.

There’s a Facebook group TravelUp (unofficial) Unfair Fees you might want to have a look at.
I booked POR through them and they only only offered me a partial refund saying I was a no show at the hotel.
After reading some of the stories on the FB group I wouldn’t hold my breath for a refund.

I believe quite a few horror stories on here from travelup I’m afraid. Check any t and c’s you have.

I believe they changed their T&C’s in February so would they be able to apply the new T&C’s to customers who booked earlier?

Reputable companies adhere to the t and c’s that were agreed at time of booking. However, travelup don’t seem to have very favourable reviews, they seem to be a difficult agent to deal with.

Thanks for the replies. I’ll do some more research and find out if I can get it back.

They are almost impossible to deal with and I would never use them again

They charged me over £300 cancellation fee for 4 flights .
I tried every avenue to get it back and wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole .
