New England Summer 2018: Day 12 - Frisbee Golf And Lobster

Another early wake up - 5am in my case. I think the fact that at home we sleep in dark rooms (we have shutters on the windows) means the dawn wakes us up!

J and I decided to walk down to the harbour.

The mist over the ocean made for some nice photos.

We walked about 2km - so not far.

Back at the house we had breakfast - the usual!

Then we got ready for going out with Captain Denny - he plays frisbee golf in a league and offered to take us out on his local course with one of his friends.

He decided I would drive him there ...

He is such an interesting guy. Now retired he spends his time boating and renovating their house on another island.

Frisbee golf is played just like golf but obviously with a frisbee and a net as the hole. We played on two teams- Denny with me and J and the kids with his mate Paul who was by far the best player.

J was also pretty good - but those pesky trees got in the way a lot!

It was good fun - and ended in a draw after the 18 holes! It took us about 2 hours to get around!

We left Denny at the course as he was meeting Marcia (his wife).

We went to Southwest Harbor for lunch.

J had a lobster roll which I also tried. It was delicious!

O and I had fish burgers and chips (F shared some of mine and we shared a grilled cheese too!)

The kids had a social media/youtube rest while we went out for gas and to look for a place to swim. Captain Denny had suggested a local park that isn't on any of the maps. It seemed ideal.

We went back and got the kids and headed back to the park which was on the fjord.

The water apparently wasn't too cold.

The sun started to set but we weren't there long enough to see it drop completely!

Back at the house J made a pasta dinner and we ate the desserts we had got at lunchtime as takeout - key lime pie (very sweet) and apple pie!

Whilst J watched the baseball, O and I did a circular walk down to the marina. There was a mist coming in. It has been cooler today (still hot but a bit cooler than yesterday). The mist was nice as it cooled us down!

It has been another interesting day! Tomorrow - a bit more walking is on the cards!
