Wrapping toy for the plane

Sister in law is thinking of wrapping some little toys for her daughter to unwrap on the plane is this okay to do?

I would think it would be Ok, bags go through xray machine anyway. The worst that would happen is you might have to open it, but i doubt it. We take our DD a selection of surprise bags to open and mever had a problem. X

I wouldn't wrap it up. There have been posts in the past about people having to unwrap presents they were taking over for Christmas. Best to leave it loose and wrap it up in the loo or somewhere out of sight of the little one after you've passed through security.

Its usually when you arrive at your destination that customs may make you open it. Doing so on the plane shouldn't be a problem as all hand baggage would have been security cleared first. If you are worried you could always take the wrapping paper already cut to size and wrap them up once through security. Just dont forget the sellotape!.

Thanks for the replies. Think she going to give it a try, if they have to be open they have to be open will take some spare sellotape just in case.

I would use gift bags. You can get some that are pretty small. I also like the idea of decorating lunch bags with stickers. Less trash ans can be reused.

I used to do this all the time for my two older children when they were little, nothing expensive but nearly one thing an hour for them to open. They loved it, we often wouldn’t get through them all so would have some for the return. I never had any problem with taking them through in the hand luggage. Feel quite guilty now though as I had forgotten about it and haven’t done it for the last couple of years so must do it next year for my third child!

Yes, as long as she isn't thinking of wrapping up something dangerous, prohibited, or something that looks like a weapon (eg. a toy gun).

We've done it in the past and not had any problems.
