I got 68p interest this month!
So would that be correct then if I paid earlier it would be harder to get back? |

I pay a few days before it’s due, allowing enough time in case the payment doesn’t go through the first time (e.g. if the banks on-line system is having a break-down).

All depends on what airline you're flying with. Our last two packages were to The Maldives and Sri Lanka, flying with Emirates. We couldn't book seats on the planes until after the balances had been paid each time. Despite trying to book seats before hand, the little box on the manage your booking page remained greyed out until we paid.

A week or two before, to allow time for any hiccups

I’ll be paying at the last minute - I can’t even touch the money until then either. We put it in a ‘high’ (ie slightly less paltry) interest rate account that we can only access after 12 months - that was immediately after we booked and we can take the money out 2 weeks before payment is due. It just makes more sense for it to be earning interest for us (even a tiny amount) than for us to pay early and get no interest at all.
I can probably buy a chocolate bar with the interest we’ll earn, and why would I turn down a free chocolate bar?

I paid half the month before it was due and half the week before. This was because I was paying the balance on my Virgin credit card (for the miles) and didn't have a high enough limit to do it in one go. I could have paid it all when I booked as the money had already been saved up.
If it wasn't for the miles, I would have paid it all the week before for the same reasons as Mr Tom 🙂

So glad it’s not just me. Hubby is like why haven’t you paid it yet. Get it done. I can’t seems to bring myself to do it until really close.
