Upgrade from Standard SUV to 7 Seater

Hi - I booked a Standard SUV for the great price of Ł316, 17-31 May 2017 with Alamo Brits. My son and his family have now decided to come with us, so we really need a 7 seater. The difference now is only Ł13 on today's prices, but Ł72 on the price I paid. Would there be any chance of "upgrading" at MCO cheaper or should I just pay now? I ask, because we had a great upgrade at Sanford last year from a midsize to a Standard Santa Fe for $20 to the guy allocating

Mmm. Difficult one, you are damned if you do and damned if you don't!

Whichever you do will prove to be the wrong one as thats sods law! Personally I would upgrade now for the Ł72.

Just be careful with the 'tip' as Alamo sacked a load of employees at Sanford for being on the take. I tip but only for somebody to get me a better car from National if Alamo are short, but it's for the same type I have paid for so no loss to Alamo.

Hmm - I think you're right Mr Tom Morrow, probably not worth the risk. Knowing my luck, I'll have to upgrade once there at a ridiculous price.

I'm a firm believer in the bird in the hand. Doesn't always work but I would be the one who would abjectly fail!

Often wondered with the guys in the garages that help finding a vehicle whether they are actually helping you to get an upgrade (and therefore get a tip) or simply showing you to where your booked car actually is (ie getting a tip for not upgrading you).

Lots of tired people who hire a car and are unsure what class of car they can take or find the boot is too small for luggage.

They must have made a small fortune in $ tips. Why did Alamo sack them, abuse of system?

They used 'Test Purchasers' who asked for upgrades and were clearly offering a back hander. This was carried out over a number of weeks and at the end those who fell for it were dismissed.
It was in the papers out there.
I will have a look for it online.

If the difference is only Ł13 on the price you originally paid why don't you just amend your booking?

Sarah. If I am reading it right the Ł13 is if the booking was done today i.e. the difference in the 2 cars. But for the OP the cost to upgrade now as she had a cheap deal some time ago is Ł72
