It was a lot easier leaving MK in the summer when they had the parade at 9pm, wishes at 10pm another parade at 11pm and then closing at midnight. A distant memory now unfortunately.

... I will avoid having a rant about how badly they treated the proper WDW night time parade that was SpectroMagic. Beautiful to watch , to listen to and was badly looked after when MSEP came back. As a result it ended up having the parade floats destroyed.

It was the perfect way to start the evening part of a MK day and would fit perfectly before the new fireworks.

As Geoff says, no shootings here.

We're merely trying to point out that the CM was being a little economical with the truth and that it is clear that HEA crowds are not the reason (or, at least, not the primary reason) that there's no electrical parade. For many years in the past, Disney has managed to do a parade and firework show at Christmas time when the park is at capacity, so they are able to cope with the crowds.

It's a real shame that there isn't a nighttime parade. It looks like projection shows are Disney's choice of night time entertainment at the moment (probably because they are cheaper in the long term). Projection shows are nice but I don't think they are as good as an electrical parade.

With you on that Walt4it - just think how spectacular it would be now with LEDs. We once did a Backstage Tour and I was allowed to wear the cloak that the Evil Queen wore in the parade (Quite appropriate my DH comments!) It weighed some 50 pounds. and that is why...

the Evil Queen in the Spectro parade was originally a bloke!

it was adapted later to be a much lighter version.

They moved it to Disney Land. It will probably come back in the future.

Don't avoid that rant! On our first ever visit to MK we went in an evening, and ended up watching Spectro. My son was 2 at the time and asleep, but woke up and watched the whole thing transfixed. Since then it's held a really special place in my heart.

It was a mesmerising thing to watch, and the music was just so "Disney". I don't mind admitting it bought a tear to my eye. I was very sad when it was replaced with MSEP which I really did not like as much.

And now there's nothing, which makes me sad. We're taking my daughters other half for his first visit next year and he'll not get to see it. The daytime parades are not the same in my opinion. It's too hot and humid, and nothing is lit up.

For me, nothing finished up a trip to Disney like the night time parade. Last time (2015) we got the fast pass seating in the centre of town square and it was brilliant.

Thank you both - I will always rant about the loss of Spectromagic, WDW's very own parade and held every ounce of Disney Magic in it.
The music is still sublime and there is a beautiful piano version that just touches the magic.

Will always be missed

You can then stroll down at leisure to the exits. We normally stay at BLT so it's another short stroll to our beds.
Used to love ending the night on the rocking chairs at the bottom of Main St, watching the crowds disappear until the park was virtually empty

Agreed Spectromagic was far superior, but Magic Kingdom needs a night time parade, it's what brings the place to life.
