Tummy tuck
This is very out there but I am very seriously considering getting a tummy tuck. I don’t know anyone who has had one and can recommend me somewhere to go. I have obviously googled but so much comes up! Has anybody had one in the midlands area and can recommend a surgeon? I’ve made an appointment with my doctor to see if they can recommend anybody but it would be good to hear personal experiences if anybody has done it? Thanks!

Make sure you do your homework on the surgeon. Go for a reputable Plastic Surgeon who is a member of BAPS or BAAPS. It’s big surgery and at least a six week recovery. I’m an ex Plastic Surgery Nurse Specialist so I know exactly what it entails.

See your GP because they usually have a list of surgeons they recommend. A family member had a mole removed from their face and the GP recommended a plastic surgeon who did a brilliant job.

You are doing this the right way and I must admit I recently had an inclination to have this done myself.
Unlike my daughters neighbour with three tiny children who has recently returned from Turkey having had a tummy tuck, breast augmentation and some kind of cosmetic arm surgery performed all in the same surgery and is now in our local hospital fighting for her life with sepsis. I’m interested to hear suggestions and thoughts about this surgery too, but I’m not sure that I’ll be brave enough to go through with it.

Haven’t had one myself so I’m not able to recommend. I’d love to have one also. After 4 children (even when I’ve lost weight in the past & exercised), I still have a horrible ‘overhang’. Very unsightly & uncomfortable.
Good luck with your future surgery. |

Thanks everyone. I do have a lot of research to do. Bupa, spire and Nuffield seem to come highly rated but I will talk to my gp. Glad to hear you don’t regret your decision mickeyspal. I have been thinking about this for 10 years and still can’t really afford it but can’t live any more being unhappy with it. I know it’s very painful afterwards but am willing to go through it!

If you're anywhere near to Nottingham, I can pm you a good surgeon. I worked for 20 years at BMI The Park Hospital.

I had mine done with the Harley Medical Group in Dec 2016. Certainly wasn’t a decision I took lightly. But after 3 c-sections my muscles had totally separated and everything was just bulging out and the overhang was awful! Being asked on a weekly basis when I was due, was so upsetting and I spent many times crying in my car. So 4 years after my last child I decided to go for it. I will be totally honest, that first weeks recovery was so hard and I wondered what on earth I had done! But once over that initial week things got a lot easier. I now feel so much better about myself. I certainly didn’t do it for weight loss as the amount of weight lost by getting rid of the fat and skin really isn’t that much so if you have weight to lose I would suggest doing that beforehand and be 100% certain that you are done with having children too. It cost a lot of money but it was so worth it for my self esteem.

A close friend of mine recently had surgery at The Hospital Group in Birmingham and has been delighted with her results and her treatment.
