We were in Virginia this summer. We didn't go to Kings Dominion but we did purchase tickets for Busch. It was cheaper to purchase a multi park/multi visit ticket from their website than just single day tickets as we had a week in Williamsburg. The weekly parking ticket was a good buy too.

The water park was pretty good, not a huge wave pool but lots of good slides/raft rides etc. Busch itself was obviously smaller than the Florida one but we enjoyed it, there is no zoo/safari area for instance.

We had a fab day at Busch Garden Williamsburg. Couple of great Coasters, nice amount of animals. Just an all round good day.

A wander around Jamestown and Historic Williamsburg was also very interesting if history if your thing.

We did both a couple of months ago. Busch Gardens is beautifully themed and has some decent rides. Kings dominion is more of a coaster park but has 2 amazing coasters in twisted timbers and intimidator 305, definitely worth a visit. I did a trip report in the general trip report section which gives a bit more info on what we did and thought of the parks.
