The Lanterns at Chester Zoo
Has anyone been to this event at Chester Zoo?
My partner and I are heading to the Wirral for a funeral in two weeks’ time, it’s a six and a half hour drive so we’ve decided to stay in the area from Friday-Sunday. I’ve never been to Chester Zoo and we both need something to get us in the Christmas spirit, but it’s around £25 each to get into the zoo in the daytime and an additional £18 each to go back for the Lanterns event in the evening- sort of like MVMCP! Is it worth the money? What is the atmosphere like? Is the experience too short or overcrowded? What’s the food like? Thanks Dibbers |

The lanterns are really good , we went last year and it was a little damp but they gave you your own lantern to carry around. Santa and helpers were around. The food is hotroast or similar and they do have an inside bar. There are no animals out at night.
Other options in the area are chester , cheshire oaks outlet mall. Or depending on where you are staying how about catching merseyrail into Liverpool for a meal and some drinks. |

We live near the zoo so have memberships, we also go to the Lantern Parade every other year. It is beautiful and done so well, certainly worth a visit if you can.
If you book the Zoo tickets more than a week in advance they are £20.00 for the day.

We have had this at Edinburgh Zoo. It was also expensive but check out if there are offers on. My son and his family went and got tickets quite a bit cheaper on Itison - don’t know if there is anything similar in your neck of the woods.
They really enjoyed it. |
