I don’t think so. I just had to fill in my username for each and that was that section done

Yo Gadgey, have the US further amended the application so one can no longer avoid completing the 'name' question as the DHS expect? Sure you mentioned an additional 'read me' pop up, making it nigh on impossible to ignore, but then again...

Bonny lass

There's no "hidden" question marks now explaining the answer which does away with some Dibbers saying "why should I look at a question mark?"

As soon as you put your cursor in the box to answer a question a dialogue box opens with UNEQUIVOCAL details of what they want to see.

Hopefully the end of the 10,000 posts on here asking "my name on my passport is Sally Ann Brown - what do I put on my ESTA for my given name.

Apologies to any Dibbers called Sally Ann Brown who may have asked this question over the past two years.

Mick

I'm not disputing you or trying to argue. Just trying to help!

I understand that his entering API did cancel his previously valid ESTA. It happens and may happen again to others. But if it does, it's not supposed to.

Seems as though he handled it correctly since he got it changed.

I've read about 90% of ESTA threads since they were made compulsory in 2009 and I guess that scores of Dibbers just put "unknown" in the USA accommodation box without any issues.

I don't recall them asking for flight details when we renewed in May.

We got an officer last time that asked us for paperwork with the accommodation address on it. We don't always have such paperwork given we're onsite regulars! He was getting unnecessary in his aggression, said if we were regular visitors we'd know we needed it. Wouldn't budge until we had it. We were discussing turning on phones to get it, when I found something in the printed stuff we take. So I'd certainly take something with it on if you can. Only later on did I consider the allocate on arrival people that wouldn't know at that stage and how they'd manage!

That said, the above is bang on by Mick. If you don't know it, put unknown, once approved, don't revisit an ESTA.

I had the same issue. I was staying in a villa which was allocation upon arrival. But of. Nightmare. I had to show him the booking and he let us through.

I need to check the status of ours. I think they will have been cancelled as I did my API when I booked in September 2019. I’ve since renewed my son’s passport and haven’t received an email saying his has expired which makes me think they were all cancelled. Obviously, he’ll need a new one anyway.
