Flydrive and insurance.



Im looking at booking a flydrive with virgin atlantic. is it cheaper to upgrade the car insurance when you get there or do it with virgin when i book?

Not the answer you really want maybe but could be cheaper just to book a flight with VA and car hire through someone like Andy at DFCH and you'll know it's fully insured. Or are you looking at dates beyond VA ones and only paying a deposit?

I'm sure you've seen that you need to upgrade car insurance with Virgin anyway as the basic inclusion is criminally low

My guess though is that if you do anything at the USA side either adding insurance or upgrading a car you'll be better doing it here. You're very much a captive client if you try to add stuff over there and very unlikely to get the best price.

No dates out for virgin atlantic flight only yet.. plus cant afford to pay for flights up front so just looking at paying a deposit.

That's fine. Just make sure you upgrade to include CDW with no excess and $1m SLI.

A few Dibbers do take out their own but can be a bit of a minefield if you don't check the T&Cs precisely
