Mobile Why can’t I make a baked potatoes?

So got some from Tesco other day. Followed instructions they were lovely. These were Tesco’s finest baking potatoes.

Wanted some more but there was none and I don’t have any bread or anything left in the house for hubby before he goes work.

My bright idea was to stick some spuds in the over.
It’s a fan 200 and they have been in for an hour now and are rock hard. They have a metal skewer in to so they cook faster.
They are classed as “white potatoes” though on the packet.

I’m I going mental.

I thought this would work and they would cook the same way as they are the same size.

Really cross cos I’ve now got bother for his lunch but cereal and that’s not good going into a physically demanding job for the next 8 hours.

Rant about spuds over.

I wrap mine in foil so they cook quicker .
You could stick them in the microwave 7-10 mins (no foil obvs)

Perfect potoates take a couple of hours. I put a slice in the potatoes length ways and wrap in foil. 1 hour at 180 fan oven take out of foil and another 1hour, crispy skin and lovely fluffy potato😋

I always blast mine in the micro first then in the oven to crisp the skin.

I used to bake in foil years ago but the skin wasn’t nice.

I always cook them almost all the way through in the microwave then put them on a tray with basil oil, salt and black pepper and finish them off in a very hot oven. Always fluffy inside and crispy skin.

I put oven on 200C, wash them, dry, prick all over then coat with little Olive Oil, and Sea Salt, and pop in oven for two hours. Nothing nicer than a baked potato!

I always put them directly on the oven shelf, not a tray. OP are you sure your oven works ok?

I would wonder about your oven. The type of potato really doesn't matter.

Snap!

This is the best method I’ve found.
