Mobile Mexico - which area

Hi guys

Never been so not sure if to look at hotels in Cancun or other area?

We enjoyed DR so want something similar here.

We like a nice big hotel with beach front and all inclusive. We don't do much just pools, beach, odd excursion and lots of relaxing

Thoughts?

I would recommend Riviera Maya, just an hour from Cancun. You still fly to Cancun, we’ve done a few all inclusives there and think they’re the best in the Caribbean for food, entertainment and service. I would avoid Cancun as it’s very built up and a bit like Magaluf! There are some nice hotels there I’ve seen but I prefer the quieter Riviera Maya, lovely as Tulum is nearby.

Or maybe try the Pacific coast and Puerto Vallarta, that was a fab trip but obviously as it’s not then Caribbean Sea the water is murky and rough. It felt more like proper Mexico there though.

I agree that Puerto Vallarta is definitely more Mexican than the Caribbean side and I would definitely recommend this area above Cancun, but if choosing where to stay on the other side, then i would also agree,it would be the riviera maya, rather than cancun.
Our grandaughter still says our holiday in riviera maya, was one of her best holidays ever.

Another vote for Riviera Maya. We stayed at Grand Palladium White Sands last year and it was fantastic. Over an hour from Cancun but lots of restaurants, bars and entertainment. Also close to the jungle areas so fun excursions such as zip wire, cenotes, Mayan ruins etc not too far away.

Definitely the Riviera Maya we have stayed there a few times, last time we visited cancun and I really wasn’t keen on it, I personally wouldn’t stay there.

We were at the Riviera Maya in February (this was our 2nd visit). We stayed in the all inclusive Secrets The Vine (it was unbelievable). They could not do enough for us. We’ve also stayed at the Moon Palace (which is right across the road from a nice shopping Mall with the usual US stores). We walked to that Mall from Secrets, it was only about a 30min walk but it was a very hot day!
It’s a beautiful area of the world and the Mexican people are lovely.
