Revolut Junior
Was thinking of getting my daughter a revolut card to help her save for our upcoming DLP & WDW trips.
I have an account myself and would have to link her account to mine, but this would mean I’d have to upgrade my account and pay a 6.99 monthly charge. Has anyone done this and is it worth it considering we would only be using it for her pocket, birthday, Christmas money? Or has anyone any advice on a similar card without the monthly charge.

If it's just for saving you might like Go Henry which is a saving app for kids and they get a card. There is a monthly fee of £2.99 but you can have one month free trial.

I just opened a starling bank account. You can use this in the usa without any fees and you get the MasterCard exchange rate - it is a debit account not a credit card.
It has a feature where you can set up a separate ‘savings space’ which can have a maximum of £200 (you can top up from the main account) and have a debit card just for the space. I’m going to put aside money in saving space for my son and he can have the card. It’s all totally free no monthly costs, they don’t credit check you either unless you want an overdraft. It’s all covered by the banking scheme, so your money is safe Edited at 10:39 PM. |

You could also open an account in her name from one of the main high street banks. We opened one with my DS with Santander when he was around 10 or 11.

Nationwide's Flex One account for 11-17 year olds has no transaction fees for cash withdrawals or debit card transactions overseas.

How old is your daughter? We bank with Barclays and we set him up with an account with them. He uses his card like we would. There is no monthly fee like Go Henry. He did have Go Henry originally but I was paying the monthly fee and he can go months without using it. The £2.50 (Or whatever it was) didn’t seem worth it.

What about the good old Post Office. They have an instant savers account that is easy to navigate and very accessible. Available from aged 11 up.

I have a Monzo current account which lets me setup as many savings "pots" as I like, so I created one for my 7yo son to put his pocket money in to save for our trip. Every now and then he tells me how much is in his pot and asks me to check - with the account revolving around the phone app its easy to manage. I see no reason to pay a monthly fee for him to save spending money.
