Hi

I am looking to book flights next year. We are a family of four, but we only need two suitcases. If I book the lowest price for all 4 members of family. Can I add 2 suitcases later on and if so, what what would be the cost per suitcase.

Yes, you can add the checked bags later. Haven't looked at the prices recently, but the last time I looked a few months ago, for Florida flights it was £40 per bag per journey (so £80 per bag return) if booked online in advance, or £45 if done at the airport on the day.

Bear in mind that the Basic Economy fares without checked bags also come without free seat selection at any point (unless you qualify for free seat selection via another means). You will be assigned seats at check-in (slightly earlier if you have under 12s in the party), but cannot change them without paying, even after check-in opens.

So, if this is an issue for you, consider it in the calculation of the saving you will make vs the standard economy with checked bags and seat choice at check-in included.

You might find it cheaper to look at ‘custom my trip’ options and book your flight and one night hotel (even if you don’t use the hotel) as it may mean you get baggage included on the flight. And it may even be cheaper than flight only.
