I feel your pain, my cats are both big hunters. I’ve had 5 bells on my cats collars and it still doesn’t work. We do keep them in at night but this was for other reasons but we do get less. Unfortunately we haven’t come up with anything that works. If there is a birds nest nearby my cats will get them and decimate the family over a couple of days. They are 5 yrs old now, so I’m hoping over the next 5 years they might slow down a little but they do play like kittens still so I don’t know if I’m being hopeful 🤣

My cat is hunting and killing birds continually at present. We have 3 trees in our back yard and the noise of he birds when he’s in the vicinity is incredible. He doesn’t wear a collar and so no bell yet they spot him and are I thinking screaming and screeching warnings to each other!

Thanks all - it's definitely him catching them and not as a present! I think we will experiment with him on times allowed out!

Mine do this too but not just birds

I've taken to locking them out in the day while WFH, as we have a cat flap.

I've had live birds and dead frogs and squirrels. All brought in during conference calls.

We don't have a cat but one of the neighbours' cats keeps coming into our garden and a) going to the toilet and b) chases birds.
Any ideas how to keep it out of our garden? Tried putting chicken wire on top of our fence panels and using a 'keep away' spray, but both haven't made much difference

I don't think you can keep cats away. I would definitely talk to your neighbour about them going to the loo - they might be prepared to have a cat litter to Help stop this. We have one and it's massively helped to stop our cats going to the loo outside

My serial killer cat is 9 this year - he’s as bad as he’s ever been for killing birds and mice/rats! He’ll eat part of them Then drop what’s left or just drop the whole body at the door as a “gift” for me as I’m WFH. He’s terrible. Showing no signs of slowing down as he’s getting older.

Your cat looks just like our Oscar. He is 7 and is just as bad as ever too ! The neighbours call him Ninja because he can catch a bird mid flight. I love birds in the garden too and have had to move feeders and bird boxes. Oscar and I don’t have the best relationship as it is !

We’ve just had blackbirds in a log store on our patio, they had 3 chicks feathered and ready to go. They worked 24/7 feeding them. Then the local cat killed them all.

Cats, magpies and crows decimate songbirds nests and young. It’s acceptable because ‘granny has a moggy’ and you can’t kill vermin because it’s cruel.
