Another Enid Blyton fan. Particularly the Adventure series and The Far Away Tree. Then moved on to The Chalet School.

There is a theme developing on Enid Blyton who brought many of us into reading. I do not seek to develop argument but nowadays she would not be a writer children would be pointed to.

The book that seriously got me into reading was Philip Pullman's Northern Lights; my GCSE English teacher spent a lot of time with me helping me deal with my dyslexia and introduced me to this book and spend his lunch times helping me read it.

I owe him a lot (and so do Waterstones and Amazon) because I now can't stop reading

Never read a book in its entirety in my life other than Henry 4th part 1 which I learned pretty much word for word the day before my English Lit exam .

Haven't got the patience for it.

Before that probably the most thumbed book I have had would be the Rothmans Football yearbooks from c 1979

101 Dalmations by Dodie Smith...I have read it that many times... I knew every sentence coming up.
One of my teachers read it to the class when I was about 8/9...and I just fell in love with it.

Is there a Dibb book club? Never been in one but could be an idea?

Don’t know who wrote it but the first book I remember enjoying was a goalkeepers revenge and other short stories. Started reading it on a rainy day at school when I couldn’t go out and play football.
