Virgin OLCI. Yes or no?
Hi we have reserved our plane seats a while ago but was wondering that if we check in for our flight the old fashioned way, on the day, at the airport could we lose our reserved seating to people who check in online 24 hours before? Would that happen? Really prefer to do things like check in at the airport and not online.

Yes no seating is guaranteed. We had reserved seats in row 31 & I thought they held these if you checked in online at least 13 hours before but I checked in today as soon as I got home from work at 5.30 & we've now got seats in row 53 & there weren't any rows of 3 available any further forward. Bit gutted that I didn't get DH to check in when OLCI opened but at least we're still sat together & we are off tommorow!

What is the point in being able to reserve seats then!
We go in may and as there are 6 of us going out and 8 coming back (2on a separate booking) the travel agent reserved 2 rows of 3 together. This sounds like we will likely lose these unless we are one if the first to check in online! Why do they do this!?

We had reserved seats in January, then they were all kicked out the system and this happens on most flights with Virgin. They will say that the aircraft has changed or a computer glitch.
We are still unable to book our seats on line as currently unavailable and have been for the last 8 weeks. Ive been told direct from Virgin that seats aren't even guaranteed when you do OLCI and can be changed at the airport if a more priority passenger requires the seats. Edited at 10:12 AM. |

We've been very lucky and only been bumped from our seats once - but I always ring up and use the 'special needs' card and get the bulkhead.
The one time I decided not to have bulkhead seats was the flight home this time, when I booked us in at the back of the Bubble. They handed me the booking cards at DTD saying that they'd changed our seats. I didn't twig that they'd put us against the toilet until we were on the plane. That was not a pleasant flight, I can tell you. Banging door and loud 'whooosh' noise every time someone flushed the whole ruddy flight home.
