Travel Money/Prepaid Travel Cards
Hi
Could you offer my some advice by way of prepaid travel cards please? I always use WeSwap but the app appears not to be working at the minute and the only update I have is that there will be a new app in a couple of month! What do other people do - do you take case or prepaid cards. I would appreciate any advice in this area please. Many thanks Heather |

We use the Post Office travel money card, and FAIRFX. Never had any issues with either.

We still have a pre-paid card, but it only ever these days has a small amount on it in case of emergencies.
When they started putting holds on the money if you used it in a restaurant which could take the length of the holiday to be released it started to become less attractive. These days we have stopped trying to chase the exchange rate having calculated over the last 15 years or so doing so amounts to +/- $50 per trip. We just use a card which gives you the spot exchange rate which is the maximum you can get at the time and does not have any fees. These cards could be credit cards from the likes Halifax clarity or debit cards from the likes of Starling or Monzo bank. Edited at 12:39 PM. |
