Holding...

Hmmmm it’s getting close and if I don’t cancel by 9 June my points go into holding! I have a couple of questions I hope people can answer:

1. If in holding how easy is it to get a booking 60 days out?

2. Do you think I could rent them if need be? Again the 60 day thing is bothering me

3. Any other options?

I am happy to hold out and see if we go on the 10 July but just want to understand my options if we are cancelled

TIA xx

I wouldn’t want points in holding as I think it might be hard to get accommodation at such short notice. Also, there’s no guarantee that borders will be open and you’ll be able to travel by then.

If you’re willing to gamble, I’d be more inclined to cancel the reservation and if the trip did go ahead just take whatever was available, if you had to rent holding points they’d be classed as distressed and you wouldn’t get the true value for them. To give yourself an idea of whether you’d risk holding, have a look at what’s available now and see if there’s much choice.

Ah I see - great advice thank you - I’ll take a look

If borders aren’t open they are not putting points in holding

Book Swan Dolphin on Hotels.com. Can be cancelled 7 days out and they had very good deals when I booked about 3 weeks ago. Renting your points will cover a stay there.

Are you sure? Have we got this in writing anywhere?

I agree with Jakki, I wouldn't want points in holding.

If we can't go in October, I'll be banking all bankable points to 2022 and renting what's left of the reservation as a confirmed.

In your position, I'd probably be inclined to rent the reservation before your holding window (assuming we still can't access the US by then of course), and using the money for a cash stay.

I'd toyed with renting our BCV nights out in October, which would have comfortably paid for a club room at PBH at Universal, it was very tempting to do.

I have it in writing that they will take it out of holding if we are unable to travel. 👍 I can never get my photos to load on here though.

Same problem here, I´m expecting to arrive LA July 17th and Disneyworld july 31st, so I should cancel my dvc stay by june 29th... I hope they don´t put our points on hold if we aren´t allowed to travel. I´ll phone them a week before thought...
